My personal journey into the profession of art therapy
For as long as I can remember, the process of drawing has been an experience with healing elements for me. As a shy child, the magic of colors, the touch of materials, the image on the paper, gave me confirmation and feedback that I exist. It was an experience that gave me confidence and the feeling that I was creating something meaningful from within myself outward, something I could look at for hours wondering, marveling, and being amazed. Something I could ask questions about, try to understand, and in doing so learn about myself through the drawing — something that was proof for me that there is something beyond physical existence.
From this experience of magic and a sense of healing, I dreamed as a teenager of finding a profession where you work with people through drawing, to allow them too to experience the thrilling experiences that help you understand yourself, and provide vitality, confidence, and an additional language to express what you feel.
Eventually I discovered art therapy, and since then I haven't stopped learning. I studied art therapy at Lesley College and the University of Haifa, psychotherapy in the psychoanalytic approach, parent group facilitation at Tel Aviv University, and Focusing certification from the International Institute in New York. I taught at Lesley College and Beit Berl. Today I work in a private clinic with children, adolescents, and adults, lecturing and supervising art therapists.
I am happy and love to share from my many years of experience in understanding the meaning of the language of lines and colors, and to discover together its healing effect on the human soul.
